A New Vision: Association of Finnish Municipalities

What will different sustainable municipalities and cities be like in the future? We helped the Association of Finnish Municipalities in visioning this as a part of their New sustainable Municipalities process. We were responsible for putting together a research project, that mapped out views on the theme from the leaders of different municipalities. Based on the research, new measures were co-created for municipalities and the Finnish state to support the new vision.

Through qualitative research and analysis, the most important cornerstones for different types of municipalities were identified, in order to be taken into consideration in the vision work, in which 2030-visions for different types of municipalities were created. Additionally, the most important differences and common factors of different types of municipalities were identified, to be noted in the future visions.

“The outsourced consultants brought the future discussions from municipalities forward in a new light. The observations and insights were eye-opening, and made us think about the deeper dynamics of society.”

“This process taught us a lot. The interviews and analysis, conducted by Kenno [now a part of Miltton], brought to light new fundamental viewpoints to the future hopes and challenges of municipalities.”
