Student Trainee in EU Public Affairs (up to 5 months), Brussels

Are you a student interested in EU affairs? Would you like to gather work experience at the heart of the European Union?

The Nordic public affairs consultancy Miltton Europe is looking at the earliest opportunity for a student interested to support its EU public affairs work as part of a paid traineeship.

We would want to recruit successful applicants for up to five months. While Miltton Europe encourages hybrid working models, we would expect trainees to be based in Brussels. Aside from offering an introduction to the world of EU public affairs, trainees may also be able to work with members of our teams in Helsinki, Stockholm, Tallinn, Riga, and Washington D.C. As such, they can gain insights into EU, Nordic, and world politics.

  • Monitor EU and national policy developments
  • Support the team with the conception of advocacy strategies
  • Assist in the organisation of events and meetings
  • Support the social media team
  • Ad-hoc public affairs assignments


  • Current enrolment in a higher education course
  • Strong interest in EU policy; good knowledge of climate, digital, economic, energy, mobility, sustainability, and/or trade policy is an asset.
  • Languages: strong written and oral English skills. Competencies in other EU languages are an asset.
  • Strong ability to work in a team
  • Strong professional writing skills
  • For the duration of the traineeship, it is necessary for trainees to be based in Brussels
  • Eligibility to work in the EU

Terms of Contract

Traineeships may be conducted either full- or part-time. The contract would be governed by Belgian Law. The exact conditions of the traineeship (incl. remuneration) will depend on the individual circumstances of the applicant and will be agreed upon by the relevant parties prior to the signing of the contract.
