Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Niilo Toivonen to join Miltton

The consultancy Miltton has appointed Niilo Toivonen as a Senior Advisor. Toivonen will start his role in February 2023 and will strengthen Miltton’s public affairs expertise and understanding, particularly regarding the ways the new generation of decision-makers operate.

Toivonen will be moving to Miltton from his duties as Sanna Marin’s Special Advisor at the Prime Minister’s Office. For the past nearly ten years, Toivonen has worked in various public affairs roles in the Prime Minister’s Office, in the Cabinet of the Minister of Finance, in the Finnish Parliament as a Special Advisor to the Deputy Speaker, in the European Parliament as a domestic advisor to the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), in several non-governmental organizations, as well as in Helsinki city’s public office. Toivonen is a Master of Theology by education.

“In my previous positions I have noticed how important it is to uphold dialogue between companies, communities, and decision-makers, especially now that the economic outlook is foggy. It is apparent that the uncertain and fast changing societal operational environment poses ever more challenges for every company and individual who seeks to be seen, succeed, and grow,” says Toivonen.

“Additionally, the societal decision-maker’s communication styles are evolving. We are moving towards a more fast-paced media environment and communication centered on society. I want to help companies and different actors of society to better understand this current change and to find solutions in a new operational environment,” Toivonen adds.

“It is a pleasure to welcome Niilo to the growing team of public affairs at Miltton. Niilo has an exceptionally broad and versatile experience in political decision-making. Specifically, he brings know-how on how the new generation of decision-makers operate. Thus, we strengthen Miltton’s existing competency in connecting different societal perspectives that are always tailored to the needs of our clients,” states Miltton Network’s Managing Director Elina Moisio.
