Advocacy organization’s strategy renewal

Pharma Industry Finland is the advocacy and influencer organization for research-based pharmaceutical companies operating in Finland. Its goal is to create value for patients and Finnish society, and to help build economic growth from the health sector. PIF needed to renew its strategy and operations. The operating environment of its members was undergoing significant changes, and the organization needed to become an even more impactful advocate.

Project overview

Miltton designed and facilitated a strategy process in which the strategy was created collaboratively, taking into account the needs of member associations and key drivers of change. The process involved the Board, staff, and CEOs of member companies. The resulting strategy strengthened PIF’s ability to prioritize and direct advocacy work, support sector development, and increase the value experienced by members.  

Highlights

  1. According to its Vision “A Healthier Finland for Everyone”, PIF strives for equality and equity for all Finns, regardless of place of residence, illness, or socioeconomic status. The Finnish welfare society, economy, and healthy citizens rely on a functioning healthcare system.  

  2. In line with its Mission “Solutions for health, sustainable healthcare, and the economy,” PIF provides solutions for health, the economy, and safety through knowledge, products, and practices, in cooperation with other healthcare actors.  

  3. PIF focuses on advancing three strategic themes: Economic growth from health, Medicines for sustainable healthcare, and Innovations quickly and equitably to people. 

Working with Miltton, the strategy work progressed surprisingly effortlessly. The team was strong, and the facilitation was highly professional. Each strategy workshop advanced our thinking, and results were achieved already along the way. The work was carried out in an inspiring atmosphere where we also dared to challenge our own and each other’s thinking.
