Social media content strategy for the Confederation of Finnish Industries

The Confederation of Finnish Industries’ strategic objective is to engage and reach new, including younger, audiences on social media.

To achieve this goal, we developed a content strategy for short video formats that combine EK’s expertise with entertaining and approachable storytelling. Through four content concepts and a content production training programme, EK’s team is now equipped to independently plan and produce continuous video content for its social media channels.

Challenge

The Confederation of Finnish Industries wants to reach new target groups with social media comms. In order to reach those, who are not actively looking for or exposed to EK’s content, a stronger focus was needed on channel-optimized video content. The aim of the videos was to combine the expertise and status of the Confederation of Finnish Industries with a more relaxed and entertaining nature of social media videos. 

Societal insight

  1. There is a constant flood of information on social media, and disinformation and political extremes that polarize discussion, dominate the space.  

  2. Therefore, there is a constant need for neutral and factual information on the platforms.  

  3. EK wanted to participate in the discussion and address young target groups in order to maintain the balance of information and serve the realization of democracy.  

For democracy to function, it is essential that reliable, fact-based information is available across multiple channels, especially on social media. It was a pleasure to support the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK) in this important societal effort.

Solution

We crafted a social media content strategy for EK, in which we defined the way of being on social media, clarified the main messages, and outlined the content themes, based on which we created the concepts for the social media video series. In addition, we carried out training related to the planning and production of videos suitable for today’s social media landscape. With this toolkit, EK’s team can script and produce the videos independently. 

Working with Miltton’s excellent social media team was a great experience. Throughout the project, we received valuable social media tips and strong concepts to support our content creation.
