It’s Her Turn to lead in sports!

Women in sports leadership need more visible role models, mentors, and professional networks. The President Kersti Kaljulaid Foundation (PKF), founded by the former President of Estonia, is launching a Europe-wide project Her Turn, together with Miltton and Out of the Box International (OTB), which focuses on advancing gender equality and leadership opportunities for women in sports.

The President Kersti Kaljulaid Foundation (PKF), founded by the former President of Estonia, is launching a Europe-wide project Her Turn, together with Milton and Out of the Box International (OTB), which focuses on advancing gender equality and leadership opportunities for women in sports.

“Sport is a unique field that unites people of all ages, nationalities, and genders. Yet, sports leadership today remains largely male-dominated,” said Triin Adamson, Head of Sports Programmes at the President Kaljulaid Foundation. A recent report by the European Commission found that only 14% of leaders in European sports federations are women – a figure that has remained largely unchanged over the past decade. “To advance women’s leadership in sport, we need more visible role models, mentors, and professional networks. By creating equal opportunities, we can make the sports sector stronger and more dynamic,” Adamson added.

“Her Turn allows us to contribute our expertise to empowering women in the sports sector – strengthening the development of female leaders and sports organizations, amplifying diverse voices in the field, and fostering opportunities for international collaboration,” said Khris‑Marii Pruunsild, Organisational Development Consultant at Miltton.

Developed and delivered by PKF, Miltton and OTB, and co‑funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ programme, Her Turn will bring together 50 ambitious women from across Europe, offering a comprehensive leadership and development journey featuring:

  • International training in leadership and sports management
  • A personal professional development plan
  • Mentorship
  • Cross‑border networking and peer learning

The programme equips participants with practical tools, confidence and connections to step into leadership and decision‑making roles within sports organisations.

Application deadline for the programme starting in March 2026 is 20th of February 2026!

Who can apply to Her Turn?

Her Turn is open to aspiring female leaders aged 18–40 who are active in sports administration and live in an EU country. Applicants should be involved in sports organizations such as federations, clubs, associations, NGOs, or other sports-related organisations, at local, national, or international level. The programme is designed for women who already work in sports administration and feel ready to grow into leadership or decision-making roles. There is no fixed minimum number of years of experience in sports management to apply. Motivation, commitment, and leadership potential are key.
