In April 2025, Miltton supported Mistra in organising a high-level seminar in Brussels entitled Sustainability and Democracy – The Role of Research for Navigating in an Era of Climate Change and Geopolitical Instability.
Miltton oversaw all stages from start to finish and event planning began in December 2024. Miltton took the lead in identifying and inviting key participants across sectors, securing and briefing speakers and co-developing the event programme. We also managed on-site logistics and practical arrangements on the day of the event. Miltton’s Senior Advisor Maria Wetterstrand moderated the entire seminar.
A highlight of the event was securing EU Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy Jessika Roswall as the keynote speaker. In her keynote she underlined the EU’s commitment to science-based policy and the urgent need for reliable science communication in the era of misinformation.
Hosted at the Swedish Permanent Representation, the event successfully positioned Mistra’s research in front of key EU stakeholders. The seminar succeeded in positioning Mistra as a thought leader in Brussels, aligning with many topical EU initiatives and showcasing the breadth and depth of their research portfolio.
