Matti Niemi has previously worked as the political special advisor to Prime Minister Sanna Marin and as the secretary to the SDP’s (Social Democratic Party) Government group. He is joining Miltton from the cabinet of EU Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen.

“I want to bring my experience in both urban politics and national and EU-level decision-making to Miltton’s clients. At the same time, I look forward to working with Miltton’s clients to develop the use of artificial intelligence and other new technologies in public and governmental affairs as well as advocacy,” says Matti Niemi.

As Managing director, Niemi will also be responsible for coordinating the operations of Miltton Networks’ public affairs teams across various markets, as well as service development in the Baltic region, Northern and Central Europe, and the United States.

“The environment in which Miltton’s clients operate is particularly interesting, but also complex: it is shaped by domestic decision-making, international politics, positioning on sustainability, and technological development. Miltton is the leading player in stakeholder relations and societal influence, with a broad team of experts capable of providing clients with a 360-degree situational overview and supporting them in effective engagement with their operating environment,” Niemi adds.

Max Mickelsson, the current Managing director of Miltton Networks, will take on operational leadership of AI and new technological solutions development in public affairs consulting, working alongside Miltton’s clients. Mickelsson, who has been with Miltton since 2022, has a distinguished career in politics and extensive experience in technology interfaces. After his political career, he held leadership positions at Microsoft for 14 years.

Patrik Gayer, a leader at Silo AI, will join the Miltton Networks board as a new member. Gayer brings global expertise in the development and application of new technologies from his previous work at Tesla.

“We’ve only scratched the surface of the societal changes that AI and emerging technologies will bring. It’s clear that every organization must not only consider its own positioning, but also think about how it understands and adapts to these changes, and how it develops its stakeholder relationships, communications, and influence as part of this transformation,” says Patrik Gayer.

“The purpose of these appointments is to strengthen Miltton’s leadership in utilizing technology as part of societal communication and influence. The aim is also for even stronger international growth. I am pleased to welcome both Matti Niemi and Patrik Gayer to Miltton,” says Jussi Kekkonen, founder and chairman of the board of Miltton Networks.
