Over the past few years, Miltton has systematically built its international presence in markets that have the greatest impact on its clients’ operating environment. The company now has offices in Helsinki, Stockholm, Tallinn, Riga, Brussels, Kyiv, Washington, D.C., London, and Berlin. The next phase of international growth is built around a new service portfolio that combines strategic advisory with AI-powered analytics, foresight, stakeholder intelligence, and decision-support solutions.

“Our clients operate in a world where geopolitical shifts, technological disruption, regulation, and stakeholder expectations are evolving at an ever-increasing pace. That is why we are making significant investments in solutions that combine human expertise with AI’s ability to analyze the operating environment in entirely new ways,” says Mathias Järnström, CEO of Miltton Group.

Anu Ubaud to lead Miltton’s growth in Germany

Anu Ubaud has been appointed Managing director of Miltton Deutschland. She joins the company from brand and communications agency United Imaginations. Previously, Ubaud served as Editor-in-Chief of Helsingin Sanomat, Finland’s leading newspaper. She was also named Young Executive of the Year (Finland) in 2021.

Ubaud is widely recognized as a pioneer in the Finnish media industry and strategic communications, having led growth and transformation both in media organizations and as an entrepreneur. Her experience spans journalism, public affairs, brand building, and organizational transformation.

“What attracts me to Miltton is its strong international growth trajectory and its state-of-the-art AI-powered services, including predictive stakeholder analysis. Today, business success depends not only on what companies do, but on how well they understand the changes around them and navigate an increasingly complex environment,” says Anu Ubaud.

Miltton’s newly launched collaboration with the Moomins and Rights & Brands alongside the Berlin office opening is an example of how Nordic brands are seeking growth opportunities in Central European markets. The aim is to further strengthen the Moomin brand’s visibility and position in Germany and neighboring markets.

“We are extremely pleased to see our expansion progressing so quickly. It is fantastic to welcome Anu on board for this journey. Our model, which combines a deep understanding of the operating environment with Nordic and local expertise, has been very well received in Germany. One of Miltton’s largest clients is a major German multinational corporation,” says Petri Tuomi-Nikula, Chairman of the Board of Miltton Deutschland.

Marianne Muona appointed Managing director in the UK

Marianne Muona has been appointed Managing director of Miltton UK. She brings extensive experience in public affairs, regulation, financial services, and stakeholder relations in international leadership roles. Muona has worked closely with European institutions, policymakers, and international networks both in Brussels and the United Kingdom.

Before joining Miltton, Muona held senior leadership positions at the global financial services company State Street, where she was responsible for strategic initiatives, governance frameworks, and large stakeholder portfolios across Europe. She holds a law degree and earned an LL.M. from Harvard Law School.

“The UK remains one of the world’s most important hubs for business, technology, capital, and international decision-making. Miltton has a unique opportunity to combine a Nordic perspective, deep societal understanding, and new AI solutions in a way that creates completely new sources of competitive advantage for clients,” says Marianne Muona.

Artificial Intelligence as the engine of portfolio growth

Miltton’s new growth phase is based on the idea that the future of consulting lies at the intersection of human expertise, extensive networks, and artificial intelligence. The company has developed new AI-powered solutions for stakeholder insight, operating environment analysis, strategic foresight, identifying emerging societal phenomena, and supporting decision-making.

Miltton’s AI Lab initiative began when Tero Ojanperä assumed the role of Chairman of the Board in spring 2025. As a result of this work, Miltton has built a new AI-powered service portfolio that includes Ambition, which provides strategic situational awareness; Dareon, which anticipates stakeholder reactions; and GreenChecker, which identifies risks in sustainability communications.

“Our long-term investments are now bearing fruit. The technologically advanced portfolio we have built enables us to grow both in Central Europe and in the United States. At the heart of it all is the deep expertise of Miltton’s people and the company’s 25 years of experience in stakeholder communications and strategic advisory,” says Kaius Niemi, Deputy CEO of Miltton Group.

The goal of Miltton’s international expansion is to establish the company as Europe’s leading partner at the intersection of societal insight, strategic advisory, and AI-powered services. London and Berlin will serve as key growth platforms in achieving that ambition.

Miltton employs approximately 400 experts with backgrounds spanning business, media, politics, academia, technology, and broader society. The company operates internationally across the Nordics, the Baltics, Brussels, Kyiv, London, Berlin, and Washington, D.C., and through its partner network in more than 25 countries.
