Miltton launches operations in Berlin: a new bridge to the German market and Ukraine’s reconstruction

Miltton will launch operations in Berlin. Miltton Deutschland will support Finnish companies in Europe’s largest economy and Finland’s most important trading partner. Petri Tuomi-Nikula has been appointed Chair of the board for the company’s German entity. He brings extensive experience from Germany, European politics, and the international business environment.

Tuomi-Nikula brings an exceptional combination of experience from Finnish public administration, diplomacy, and media. Most recently, he served as a Senior Advisor at Sitra, and previously as Finland’s Ambassador to Italy and Hungary, among other roles. Before his diplomatic career, he worked as a journalist and in leadership positions at Fujitsu Nordic.

The changing geopolitical landscape has elevated Finnish-German cooperation to a new level. Finnish companies now have more opportunities in Germany than they have had in decades, but at the same time there is a growing need for local expertise, networks, and strategic influence. The Berlin office combines Miltton’s Nordic expertise with German local know-how in a way that provides clients with a concrete competitive advantage in a rapidly changing operating environment. The service offering covers communications strategy, media and stakeholder relations, and strategic advisory services in Germany, Ukraine, and at the EU level.

The reconstruction of Ukraine will be the largest infrastructure and economic project in Europe in the coming decade. Germany plays a key role both as a major European supporter of Ukraine and as a driver of reconstruction. Miltton has its own office in Kyiv, as well as strong expertise and networks in Ukraine. The Berlin operations complement this whole and provide clients with a new pathway to participate in reconstruction together with German partners.

“Germany is a market where Finnish companies have had significant potential but insufficient local support. We now want to change that. At the same time, the reconstruction of Ukraine makes Finnish–German cooperation even more relevant. There is demand for Finnish expertise, and we want to create pathways to participate in projects over the coming decade that carry great value both economically and for society,” says Mathias Järnström, CEO of Miltton Group.

Societal competitiveness determines the winners

Tuomi-Nikula’s appointment is part of a broader effort in which Miltton brings together experienced societal influencers, business leaders, and strategic communications experts to support clients in interpreting a rapidly changing environment and navigating complex situations requiring societal engagement.

“Companies’ success increasingly depends on how well they understand and anticipate changes in their operating environment. Societal competitiveness is built on the ability to combine business expertise with an understanding of regulation, technology, geopolitics, and societal expectations,” says Antton Rönnholm, Head of Global Affairs and Geopolitics at Miltton.

Miltton acts as a strategic partner for clients at the intersection of society and markets, helping them turn changes in regulation, technology, the geopolitical environment, and sustainability requirements into concrete competitive advantages in the Nordics, across Europe, and globally. In recent years, the company has continued its international expansion by launching operations in London as well. Strong expertise in sustainability consulting and in leveraging rapidly developing technology—including AI—has accelerated the company’s international growth.
