Summary

Climate change is one of the defining challenges of our time, requiring decisive action across all industries. In 2026, Telia partnered with Miltton to elevate its Climate Transition Plan by strengthening alignment with leading frameworks beyond CSRD/ESRS and sharpening how its 2025 progress toward a low-carbon future is communicated to stakeholders.

Telia’s renewed Climate Transition Plan is a powerful example of how strategy, data, and design can come together to create impactful sustainability communication. It showcases how tangible progress and ambition can be translated into a clear, engaging, and credible narrative, resonating with a wide range of stakeholders and reinforcing Telia’s leadership in the transition to a low-carbon future.

Starting position

  1. A strengthened partnership

Miltton’s work with Telia built on a successful collaboration in 2025, when the team supported the development of the company’s group-level climate transition plan in line with CSRD and ESRS.

  2. A plan with sharper focus

In 2026, Miltton continued as a strategic advisor in sustainability communications, tasked with planning, developing and producing a renewed climate transition plan for Telia.

  3. A clear foundation for the next phase

The work began with a gap analysis against TPT and GSMA’s sector-specific guidance. This provided a clear foundation for strengthening the plan’s transparency, credibility and articulation of Telia’s climate strategy.

Turning regulatory requirements into a clear climate narrative

Throughout the process, Miltton worked side by side with Telia as a trusted advisor and sounding board, supporting project management, shaping content, and elevating both communication and design. The collaboration was hands-on, focused, and outcome-driven.

Miltton’s multidisciplinary team of sustainability experts, copywriters, and designers translated Telia’s 2024 progress into clear, engaging, and high-impact content. Core messages were sharpened to improve clarity and stakeholder relevance, while refreshed visual storytelling brought the Climate Transition Plan to life, making complex information accessible, engaging, and actionable.

A strategic framework for Telia’s path to net zero

The updated plan in 2025 sets out a clear and ambitious roadmap for reducing emissions and embedding sustainable practices across Telia’s operations and value chain. It defines concrete targets, actions, and timelines aligned with global climate goals, including net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, it strengthens Telia’s approach to climate risk management, just transition, and governance, demonstrating a holistic and forward-looking strategy.

Miltton’s long-standing collaboration with Telia, spanning several years of annual reporting, enabled a deep understanding of the company’s business, operations, and brand and played a critical role in delivery. With this setting as a starting point, the team was able to move quickly, ensure consistency, and deliver a high-quality outcome with maximum efficiency. This ensured a seamless process and a result that is both strategically robust and distinctly aligned with Telia’s identity.

The impact

  • A Climate Transition Plan aligned with CSRD/ESRS, TPT, and GSMA
  • Clearer, more compelling communication of climate strategy and progress
  • Stronger credibility with investors, regulators, and other stakeholders
  • A scalable structure for future updates and reporting

“Miltton has supported Telia both in the development of our Climate Transition Plan and in its revision.

They are true professionals, and the combination of strategic sustainability advisory and a dedicated team makes the collaboration both seamless and genuinely enjoyable.”
