EU taxonomy physical climate risk assessment
Bolt is a global mobility platform with ride-hailing, scooter and e-bike rentals, car-sharing, and food delivery services in over 50 countries and 850 cities.
Miltton supported Bolt in conducting an EU taxonomy-aligned physical climate risk assessment, with the primary objective of assessing and demonstrating the resilience of Bolt’s taxonomy-eligible activities to climate hazards. The assessment supports Bolt’s broader ambition to achieve EU taxonomy alignment.
The analysis covered Bolt’s core business verticals across key international markets, applying a forward-looking time horizon.
Working with the Miltton team on our EU taxonomy climate risk assessment was a pleasure. They brought expertise, clear structure, and a collaborative approach throughout the project. They delivered on time, supported us reliably during a busy period, and produced high-quality work that gives us a strong foundation for future assessments and our climate adaptation plan.

Project scope
The assessment followed a four-phase methodology. The project concluded with a leadership workshop to validate the findings and recommendations.
-
1. Hazard screening and exposure mapping
EU taxonomy climate hazards were screened for relevance to Bolt’s activities, supported by geographical exposure mapping using open-source climate data.
-
2. Scenario formulation
A forward-looking climate scenario was selected in line with EU taxonomy requirements. The IPCC high-emissions scenario (SSP5-8.5/RCP8.5) was used to assess future changes in climate hazards.
-
3. Risk and vulnerability assessment
Climate hazards were translated into business risks and assessed for likelihood and operational and financial impact through workshops with Bolt teams.
-
4. Adaptation measures
Existing and potential measures to reduce climate risk exposure and strengthen resilience were identified through expert interviews and internal consultations.
