The creation of two new Schools of Superheroes will be made possible through the joint efforts of a group of Finnish and Finland-affiliated private donors, who raised the necessary funds in record time.
This initiative has been made possible thanks to the contributions of: Anna Lehtonen, Anu Waaralinna, Ellen Järnström, Elsa Miller Foundation, Johanna Lilja, Julianna Borsos, Kiira Tuohimaa-Leisio, Kirsi Komi, Kitty Salovaara, Lena Jungell, Lotta Kopra, Marjo Miettinen, Sanna-Mari Jäntti and Maya Sviberg-Järnström / Miltton Group, Nina Kurth, Paula Salovaara, Piia-Noora Kauppi, Rafaela Seppälä, Riikka Ihamuotila, Riikka Tieaho, Sari Baldauf, Sophia Jansson, Valentina Lundström as well as others who chose to remain anonymous.
Kirsi Komi, one of the donors, emphasized the significance of this contribution: “This donation marks the enduring support Finnish people, business community and NGOs have shown Ukraine since February 24, 2022, when Russia began an illegal war of aggression in Ukraine. This donation came together from a group of people who wanted to act in support of humanity, dignity and the power of education at a crucial time in history.”
“Our collaboration with the Olena Zelenska Foundation is an example of the integral part we can play in bringing people together. We remain grateful and inspired by all the people who donated to build Schools of Superheroes in Ukraine,” said Sanna-Mari Jäntti, Head of New Markets at Miltton Group.
In Ukraine, 17 Schools of Superheroes are already operating in 13 cities, six of which were funded by the Olena Zelenska Foundation last year.
This year, the Foundation has launched the second phase of the project, which will establish six new centers in Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Lutsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, and Mukachevo.
“We have gained another partner for the School of Superheroes project, and this is an incredible result. I sincerely thank Miltton Group for their initiative and support in organizing the event in Helsinki, where Finnish businesses and philanthropists came together with a shared commitment to help implement one of the most important projects for our children,” concluded Nina Horbachova, Director of the Olena Zelenska Foundation.
The School of Superheroes project operates under the patronage of the First Lady. These are educational spaces within children’s hospitals, where young patients can continue their schooling while receiving medical treatment.
